Course Details: Access to HE Diploma in Foundation Studies in Art and Design Progression Opportunities: The majority of students progress onto degree level programmes in: Art and design Fashion Design Theatre / Set design Graphic Design Fine Art About the course: The Access to HE course is a one year full time intensive course suitable for students with creative ability, a capacity for study and the determination to succeed in a career in art, design, fashion and related studies. This is the primary recognised route into Art and Design related Degree programmes. Students have access to excellent facilities at the Westward Ho site, including specialist workshops, studio’s, gallery and a specialist art and design library. Experienced staff advise students on progression opportunities, and help with the preparation of portfolios. The course is designed to provide a framework for personal development, encouraging exploration and discovery across diverse areas of art and design disciplines. The course is divided into three stages, the first being exploratory, the second concentrating on pathways of study and the third is confirmatory, culminating in a public exhibition / fashion show at the end of the academic year. STAGE 1 Exploratory Stage Unit 2 Recording and Responding Unit 3 Media Experimentation STAGE 2 Pathways Stage Unit 5 Combined Experimental studies Unit 6 Media Development Unit 7 Preparation and Progression STAGE 3 Confirmatory Stage Unit 9 Personal Confirmatory Study 12 month programme : August – July (38 weeks) (1 year) 36 week delivery - main programme 2 week delivery intensive English Language induction weekly English as a Foreign Language classes weekly tutorial support Students who enrol on this programme will infill with other full time students. Fee: £6,500 This cost will be paid for the full year and includes all tuition and accommodation fees. Food costs are covered for meals during weekdays and term times. Students who wish to stay in their accommodation during holiday periods will incur an additional £50 / week accommodation fee.
